New tires ready for installation at McCoy Enterprises

Regular rotation helps tires wear evenly and last longer, and balancing removes the vibration that makes highway driving tiring. Both are done at our shop at 6450 S Orange Ave in Pine Castle.

How rotation and balancing help tires last longer

Tires on the same car don’t wear at the same rate. On a front-wheel-drive car, the front tires steer, carry most of the engine’s weight and put the power to the road, so they usually wear faster than the rears. Rotation moves each tire to a different position at regular intervals so the set wears evenly, which helps the tires last longer and keeps grip consistent from front to back.

Balancing is different. A wheel and tire are never perfectly even in weight, and small weights on the rim correct the difference. An out-of-balance wheel shakes at speed, which you feel in the steering wheel on the highway, and that shaking wears the tires and suspension parts. Florida heat adds its own wear: hot pavement raises tire temperature and pressure, and an underinflated tire flexes more and runs hotter. Checking the pressure once a month, while the tires are cold, is one of the easiest ways to protect them.

Tires, Balancing & Rotation: frequently asked questions

How often should tires be rotated?
Check your owner’s manual. Many vehicles call for rotation at regular mileage intervals, often alongside an oil change.
Why does my steering wheel shake at highway speed?
Out-of-balance wheels are a common cause. Balancing usually fixes it. We’ll check for other causes too.
Can you install tires on any vehicle?
We work on all makes and models, from daily drivers to fleet vehicles.
Do you check tires during an oil change?
Yes. Tires are part of the multi-point inspection that comes with every oil change.
Do you also do wheel alignments?
Yes. We do four-wheel alignments on the alignment rack in our shop, which is a good idea with a new set of tires.
